House of Pranksy

Via Lazer I built the House of Pranksy launch site and its SeaDrop contracts for soulbound memberships and gift minting. It launched on OpenSea (SeaDrop), and OpenSea featured it.

Context

House of Pranksy wanted soulbound memberships (tokens you can hold but never sell or transfer) plus gated lore and lessons that only members can read. Collectors also wanted to buy a membership for someone else. OpenSea's SeaDrop protocol, the obvious way to launch on OpenSea, has no clean path for that, because the payer and the recipient are supposed to be the same person.

The job was to add gift minting without forking a protocol that OpenSea's marketplace depends on, and to let non-engineers run the site afterwards.

What I built

Via Lazer Technologies, I built the launch site and the SeaDrop contracts, and the tooling around them.

  • I built pranksybreaks.co.uk on Next.js 15, with a Sanity v3 section renderer so editors assemble pages themselves. The hero is a layered parallax engine that composites the hand-illustrated London street, with preload hints so the big layers don't hold up the first paint.
  • The contracts extend SeaDrop. A soulbound token adds owner and admin minting while transfers and approvals still revert, and a gift-mint contract is registered as an allowed SeaDrop payer. OpenSea's SeaDrop code stays untouched.
  • A Foundry suite forks Ethereum mainnet and exercises the canonical SeaDrop deployment: admin, batch and gift mints, payment splits, refunds, soulbound reverts and access control.
  • Direct, gift and admin mint flows run on wagmi and viem, with Privy wallets and Discord sign-in. The mint UI is an explicit state machine, so a rejected signature returns you to the right screen.
  • A TypeScript toolkit deploys, configures and verifies on Sepolia, with configs wired for mainnet. It simulates each call before sending it and checks on-chain state before changing it.

Key decisions

Forking SeaDrop would have made gift minting easy, and left the client maintaining a private copy of the protocol OpenSea's marketplace expects. Registering a separate contract as an allowed payer kept SeaDrop unmodified and its security model intact.

Token gating runs twice. Client hooks give instant feedback, but gated content is only sent after a server route re-checks ownership on-chain, so the full text never appears in the page source for someone who hasn't proven membership.

Result

The memberships launched on OpenSea (SeaDrop), and OpenSea featured Pranksy on its blog in November 2025. Both membership collections carry OpenSea's verified badge.

My part

I deployed and tested my contracts on Sepolia, with the tooling set up for Ethereum mainnet. I haven't confirmed that the collections that launched on OpenSea in November 2025 were deployed from them. SeaDrop is OpenSea's protocol, and I extended it without changing it. The illustrations are House of Pranksy's art, used with permission.
